In this digital photography series, I explore the evolving distance between myself and my grandmother, mediated through self-portraits and archival photographs of her.
The mirror in each image acts as a physical and metaphorical barrier, reflecting not only my image but the growing separation between us as her dementia and Alzheimer's progress. The interplay between the old photographs and my contemporary self highlights the tension between memory and loss, presence and absence.
Through these layered images, I aim to capture the emotional complexity of watching someone you love fade away, while also confronting the disconnection and yearning that arises as we grapple with the passage of time and the effects of memory’s deterioration.
